Waste Paper Imported Raw Materials Have Been Blocked, How Will The Paper Industry Develop In The Future

The "White Paper" pointed out that in the total consumption of paper fiber raw materials in China, imported wood pulp, waste paper and wood chips account for a large proportion, supporting the development of the paper industry. At present, China's papermaking raw materials (wood pulp, waste paper and wood chips) have an external dependence of more than 50%. Among them, in terms of waste paper, China's waste paper imports accounted for about 40% of global waste paper trade in 2017, and pulp made from imported waste paper accounted for 20.5% of total pulp.

 

In addition, under the existing industrial structure in China, the export of manufacturing products accounts for a relatively large proportion. About 30% of the total domestic paper is carried overseas as export packaging, instructions and signs, which further reduces the amount of domestic waste paper.

 

Therefore, the import of waste paper raw materials has become the main source of supplement for the paper industry fiber and the guarantee of the quality of waste paper fiber.

 

In order to promote the technological progress, transformation and upgrading of China's pulp and paper industry, from 2007 to 2017, we have carried out many researches on the high value utilization of plant fiber resources, energy saving and emission reduction in papermaking process, localization of equipment, and functional application of paper materials. Research on key projects of the Science and Technology Program.

 

In terms of technical equipment, we will improve the manufacturing capacity of papermaking equipment, accelerate equipment automation, numerical control, and intelligence, promote the integration of process technology research and development with papermaking and printing equipment manufacturing, and promote the transformation and upgrading of the paper industry with technological innovation.


In terms of energy conservation and emission reduction, the current emission levels of the industry have basically reached the international advanced level, and industrial solid waste emissions are now close to zero. The industry is developing in the direction of informationization, data and intelligence.
