Pratt Tops Aussie Rich List With $12.6 Billion
Oct 30, 2018
PAPER, packaging and recycling magnate Anthony Pratt is Australia’s wealthiest person with a $12.6 billion fortune, knocking property tycoon Harry Triguboff from the top spot.
Pratt is executive chairman of Pratt Industries in the US and cardboard box and recycling giant Visy in Australia.
The growth of Pratt Industries is the main driver of his move from second on the 2016 Financial Review Rich List into first place on this year’s list. Pratt last topped the list of Australia’s 200 wealthiest people eight years ago, just months after the death of his father Richard Pratt.
Financial Review Rich List editor John Stensholt said Pratt was reaping the rewards of expanding his business in the rust belt states of the US and investing in American manufacturing, which people thought was dying five years ago.
